Freedom of Information

If you wish to obtain or gain access to records held by the Pharmacy Board of Victoria, you will need to determine whether the information you require is a public document or whether you should apply under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

The Health Professions Registration Act 2005 outlines the functions of the Board. The Act requires the Board to maintain a register of pharmacists in this State and this register must be available for inspection by any person. Copies of the register may also be purchased for a statutory fee. The Board publishes the 'Pharmacy Board of Victoria Guidelines for Good Pharmaceutical Practice' which are updated annually and available for inspection or purchase. Periodically, the Board also publishes new guidelines or amends existing guidelines in its Circulars to pharmacists.

You may contact the Board to enquire as to whether the information you require is available for inspection or purchase or whether you should apply for it under the provisions of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act. Some information may not be available if it is classified under the FOI Act as an 'exempt document'.

To apply for a document under the provisions of the FOI Act, you may do so by providing details in writing to the FOI Officer or alternatively, you may complete an FOI Request Form. Further information regarding FOI requests is detailed in the FOI Flowchart and queries can be directed to the Board's Freedom of Information Officer (Contacting the Board).

To assist you to identify information available to the public as required by Part II of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, you should refer to the Board's Public Information List.
